Choosing a Tractor for Narrow Vineyard Rows

A vineyard tractor needs room to work under the canopy and between rows, with enough power for your implements. Start with your row spacing and the tools you use.

Width First

Allow clearance for both the tractor and its sprayer in your narrowest rows. Compare the dimensions of Kubota M5N and New Holland T4F and T4V configurations.

Height Second

Check clearance under cordon wires and the canopy. For spray work, review the pesticide label, applicable worker-protection requirements, cab category, filtration specification, and employer safety program.

PTO Power for the Sprayer

Choose enough PTO power for your sprayer, taking terrain, working speed, and operating conditions into account. Include any larger sprayer you plan to use.

The Replacement-Program Angle

Some replacement programs may include eligible older vineyard tractors. The administering agency determines equipment eligibility, funding, timing, and replacement requirements.
